The Mars Society Australia, Inc is an Approved Research Institute with Deductible Gift Recipient status for the purposes of section 73A of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936 for undertaking scientific research which is, or may prove to be, of value to Australia. This means that companies or individuals, who pay company or individual tax to the Australian Tax System, by donating towards approved MSA research projects, may claim the donated amount as a tax deduction.
